CREN

Michel Pietsch, known as CREN, is a French-German graffiti writer born in 1970 near Hanover and based in Berlin since 2009. He discovered hip-hop culture during travels through France in the 1980s, picked up his first spray can in 1989, and made his name in the 1990s with a distinctive wildstyle in public space. His work blends lettering, pop-art figuration and informal abstraction, built up through a signature mixed technique of stencils, drips, splashes and brushwork. In 2018 he co-signed the large Holzmarkt 25 mural in Berlin alongside Akte One for the Berlin Mural Fest. His paintings have been shown in fourteen countries across three continents.
