Biography

Ingrīda Pičukāne (born 1978) is a Latvian artist and illustrator who teaches animation and comics at the Riga Art and Media School. A graduate of the Art Academy of Latvia, the Estonian Academy of Arts, and the Jānis Rozentāls Art High School, she regularly illustrates children's books for the publisher Liels un mazs. Her practice spans illustration, comics, audio-visual performance, and feminist art — she edited the zine Samanta (ADwards Silver Medal, 2017). Her delicate white-ink line work extends to murals, including the piece at Tallinas iela 10 in Riga, where small figures of children perch on flowering branches winding across a wooden facade.
