Biography
Born in 1974 in Haut-Anjou and based in Nyoiseau (Maine-et-Loire), Florent Maussion is a self-taught figurative painter trained in Nantes. He began his career at eighteen with mural decorations across western France — Nantes, Angers, Saumur — before moving to Kyoto in 1996 to paint commercial frescoes, an experience that lastingly shaped his style. In 2007 he won the grand prize of the 15th National Salon of Military Painters and was named an official Painter of the Armed Forces. His work, in oil as well as mural, captures tender atmospheres, fragile figures and intimate everyday scenes. In Angers, he co-signed the 2019 fresco "Aubade à Jeanne Moreau" with Alain Guilloteau, a tribute to actress Jeanne Moreau on the street that bears her name.
