Biography
LX.One, real name Alex Bloch, is a French artist born in 1979 in Strasbourg. Coming out of the 1990s graffiti scene, he has gradually built an abstract universe rooted in Op Art, Constructivism, Minimalism, the De Stijl movement and Neoplasticism, drawing in particular on Theo Van Doesburg's Aubette room in Strasbourg. His work explores geometric patterns, the deconstruction of letterforms and the pixel as basic unit, across many media (walls, wood, metal, paper, canvas, sand, concrete). A member of the international Agents of Change collective alongside Remi Rough, he is best known for 40 Jours, a temporary installation made in 2014 on a house in Biarritz before its demolition, and for murals in Saarbrücken, Marrakech and Strasbourg.
