Animalitoland

Biography

Graciela Gonçalves Da Silva, better known as Animalitoland, is an Argentinian artist born in Buenos Aires in 1984. After graduating in graphic design from the University of Buenos Aires and specialising in character design, she spent a decade moving between comics, fanzines, animation and video games before turning to painting in public space. From 2011 onwards, she began covering walls with a personal universe inhabited by children and fantastical creatures.

Her work blends anthropomorphic figures, careful use of light and saturated colour, translating the codes of cartoon and illustration onto large-scale architecture. Invited to the Street Art Fest Grenoble-Alpes in 2016, the artist returned in 2018 to paint a poetic mural in Le Pont-de-Claix. The pieces often carry tender messages about memory, sharing and inner growth, addressing residents as much as passers-by.

Now based in Madrid, she has produced more than sixty murals across the Americas, Europe and Asia. Her practice combines the precision of graphic design with the freedom of monumental painting, contributing a distinctive feminine voice to the contemporary muralism scene.
