Biography
Fabio Schirru, known as Tellas, was born in 1985 in Cagliari, Sardinia. His pseudonym comes from "tellas", the waste stones used in the construction of Sardinian nuraghe, reflecting a deep connection to his homeland. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna before devoting himself to large-scale mural painting.
The artist has developed a visual language rooted in natural landscapes, particularly the arid zones and Mediterranean vegetation of Campidano. His practice goes beyond traditional street art to embrace contemporary public art: monumental murals with abstract botanical compositions, installations, printmaking and audiovisual productions. He has worked on every continent, from Australia to India, Brazil, Canada and Finland.
In 2014, the Huffington Post ranked him among the 25 most important street artists in the world. In 2015, he appeared in the Contemporary Urban Art Guide among the 100 most influential emerging artists globally. He has collaborated with brands including Ferragamo and Marni, the latter partnership being exhibited at the 56th Venice Biennale.
