Biography
1010 is an urban artist born in Poland and based in Hamburg, Germany, where he has lived since childhood. He painted his first graffiti in 1994 at the age of fifteen and progressively developed a visual language built around depth illusion. His pseudonym emerged around 2005 when a Hamburg photographer began tagging his public interventions — newsprint figures marked with a 1 or a 0 — with the binary name he subsequently adopted.
His signature is a series of abstract portals, compositions of concentric arcs in graduated colors that appear to pierce through wall surfaces to reveal an infinite space behind. He describes his work as "making holes — holes in the fabric of space-time, holes in observable reality, holes in urban facades." This exploration of visual perception and optical illusions at architectural scale has earned him growing international recognition.
His murals appear in dozens of cities: New York, Miami, Hamburg, Warsaw, Dubai, Moscow, Berlin, Shanghai. In 2016, he collaborated with the URBAN NATION museum in Berlin as part of the ONE WALL project. His works are also exhibited in galleries and private collections worldwide.
