Biography

Indrek Haas, known as Von Bomb, was born in 1981 in Estonia. After studying philosophy and cultural studies at the University of Tartu, he developed an artistic practice centred on large-scale stencil work, a technique he applies to neighbourhood walls and entire building facades alike. His work is characterised by precise stencil draughtsmanship, clean graphic compositions, and frequent use of flat painted backgrounds.

He is the author of the largest mural in the Baltic states, 'Ülemiste tüdruk' (The Girl from Ülemiste), created in 2015 in Tallinn on a 33 × 60-metre facade (1,780 m²). The piece depicts a young woman holding a red umbrella against a pale blue sky, with 'raindrops' rendered as a binary code of 1,560 digits encoding a poem by Debora Vaarandi. It has since become a landmark of the Ülemiste City technology district.

Since then, Von Bomb has created further notable murals across Tallinn and other Estonian cities, including a work at Tallinn Airport and pieces in the Volta district. His reputation extends beyond Estonia's borders thanks to the distinctiveness of his work, which sits at the intersection of stencil art, graphic design, and visual storytelling.
