Ivan Svaguša

Ivan Svaguša

Biography

Ivan Svaguša is a versatile artist from Split, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in painting. He is the founder of the independent publishing house Bučni stripovi (Noisy Comics), through which he explores comics as a multimedia art form. He has organised and led numerous forums on comics and street art, and participated in solo and group exhibitions as the author and co-author of many albums.

At the crossroads of drawing, mural painting, graffiti, and illustration, his work questions the boundaries between popular and contemporary art. He also runs art workshops for various audiences. His artistic pseudonym SVAIGE is associated with several monumental murals in the streets of Split, often created in collaboration with Luka Duplančić.

Among his notable works is the mural Možda bi vam bolje bilo da niste tu (2022), based on an illustration by Alem Ćurin and used as the poster for the Splitsko ljeto festival, and Judith – The Siege of Bethulia (2024), a monumental tribute to poet Marko Marulić on the 500th anniversary of his death.
