Biography

Luka Duplančić was born in 1975 in Split, where he lives and works as an independent artist. He graduated in graphic design from the School of Fine Arts in Split in 1994, then continued his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, graduating as both painter and graphic designer in 2000 under Professor Ante Kuduz.

His practice spans a wide range of disciplines: set design, illustration, exhibition design, murals, and public art. He has created sets and puppets for productions at Split's National Puppet Theatre, illustrated literary works including Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and collaborated with NGOs on educational and social projects. He co-founded the cultural association Ekscentar and the PROFESIONALCI+ design studio.

Duplančić has exhibited at the Split Salon (2003, 2009, 2015), the Croatian Drawing Triennial, and the International Illustration Festival. He received the Ivan Svaguša Award for Contemporary Art in 2013 and several CROPAK design distinctions. His monumental mural Judith – The Siege of Bethulia (2024), co-created with Ivan Svaguša on Marmontova ulica in Split, is among his most prominent public commissions.
