Biography
Guillaume Alby, known as Remed, is a French painter and muralist born in 1978 in northern France and based in Madrid since the mid-2000s. His vocabulary blends calligraphy, elongated human figures, flat saturated colour and stained-glass-like compositions, nourished by his stays in the Middle East and North Africa.
In 2014 he published his "Manifiesto", setting out the inner rules of his painting practice: geometry, proportion and a restrained yet intense palette. His canvases and murals play on the rhythm of line and the sensuality of stylised bodies.
Remed has painted across Europe, Latin America, the Maghreb and Asia, often as a duo with Okuda San Miguel with whom he shares a taste for pure colour and broken-down volumes. In Málaga their 2015 collaboration for the MAUS festival in the Soho district left one of the city's most emblematic works.
