Biography
Óscar San Miguel Erice, known as Okuda San Miguel, is a Spanish artist born in 1980 in Santander. He is one of the most recognisable figures in contemporary muralism: his works combine multicoloured geometric patterns — diamonds, triangles, checkerboards — layered over flat grey figures, often drawn from a reimagined animal and religious iconography (saints, skulls, bears, pandas).
Trained at the Madrid School of Fine Arts, he moved through graffiti before developing his signature pop-surrealist style. He leads the Ink and Movement studio and in 2016 founded the Kaos Temple in Llanera (Asturias), a deconsecrated chapel entirely repainted as a single colourful fresco.
Okuda has painted on five continents — India, Japan, Mali, the United States, Russia, Europe — and produced numerous monumental murals, public sculptures and brand collaborations. His work explores multiculturalism, identity and the tension between tradition and modernity.
