Biography

Nasca Uno is the pseudonym of Armin Eßert-Mendocilla, an artist born in Munich in 1992 into a German-Peruvian family. His stage name is a tribute to the ancient Nazca culture of southern Peru, from which he descends on his mother's side. He began painting at three and took up graffiti at ten, founding the crew EAL (Equality) at legal spots around Munich.

After studying media and communication design in Kuala Lumpur, he moved to Berlin in 2015, where he developed a practice of large-scale mural painting. His style blends photorealistic portraiture, surrealism, and influences from American and Japanese comic strips: monumental portraits of elderly figures or indigenous characters, laden with interwoven cultural symbols, animals, and plants of the Americas.

He has painted across several continents, including Peru, Cuba, the Philippines, Morocco, Vietnam, and Indonesia. His commissions include collaborations with Tesla, Adidas, and N26. He gained international recognition through participatory works such as 'Die Wanderin' in Nuremberg, where he involved local residents in the creative process.
