Biography

Osa Okunkpolor, known as Osa Seven, was born on March 11, 1983 in Benin City, Nigeria. A graduate in Visual Communications from the University of Lagos, he quickly established himself as the central figure of Nigerian urban graffiti, blending character portraits, abstract compositions and tribal motifs on the city's walls.

In 2017, he created Eko Tag, Nigeria's first official monumental mural — a 13-by-108-foot artwork commissioned by the Lagos State Government on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island. The project celebrated Lagos at 50 and incorporates the National Theatre, the Aro Meta chiefs, and yellow auto-rickshaws (Keke Napep) physically mounted on the wall. CNN International documented the journey for Anthony Bourdain's 'Parts Unknown'. In 2019, he became the first African artist to design a bottle for Hennessy's Very Special Cognac.

Founder of the 7th Element Initiative — a platform giving local artists access to tools and resources — he has collaborated with global brands including Guinness, Adidas, Apple Music, Netflix, and Microsoft. He co-founded 'Art For A Cause', a voluntary initiative bringing art to school environments. He was dubbed 'the Banksy of Lagos' by CNN and was nominated for the Future Awards Africa 2016 in Arts & Culture.
