Biography
Gidevan, whose real name is Vitaliy Gidevan (also spelled Hidevan or Gide1), is a Ukrainian muralist originally from Pryluky. He works in duo with painter Olena Noyna, with whom he shares both life and artistic practice. Together they form one of the most active pairs in contemporary Ukrainian street art, specializing in monumental murals with strong symbolic content.
Before the war, Gidevan had made a name for himself with colorful figurative murals in his hometown of Pryluky and other Ukrainian cities. Since 2022, their output has shifted toward commemorative and resistance works, commissioned or supported by institutions such as the Ukrainian National Guard. In 2023, the duo created the famous "Zaporizhian Avenger" mural in Kyiv, honoring Ukraine's youngest Hero of Ukraine, and a mural titled "Heroes Without Weapons" dedicated to a rescue chief.
Their realistic figurative style, blended with Ukrainian national symbols — blue and yellow flag, wheat fields, trident — has established itself as a reference point for war mural art in Eastern Europe.
