Vincent Parisot

Vincent Parisot

Biography

Vincent Parisot is a French visual artist born in 1975 who has been based in Heraklion, Crete, since 2009. Trained at the Fine Art School of Quimper in France and the Limerick Institute of Technology in Ireland, he works across painting, drawing, photography, and public space interventions.

After working in public art programs with schools for the Gottfried Honneger Foundation and Espace de l'Art Concret in southern France, he moved to Marseille in 2000 and traveled across Europe before establishing his studio in Crete in 2009. He creates mural interventions in Heraklion, Paris, and New York, frequently in collaboration with artist Eirini Linardaki.

His series "Marmaromaimou" (marble monkey) draws inspiration from Minoan frescoes observed during his residency at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum. Through animal figures rendered in faux gray marble, the work questions our understanding of archaeology and ecology, rooting itself in the visual history of the Mediterranean.
