Biography

Dragon76, born Daisuke Sakaguchi in 1976 in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, trained in visual arts in Osaka. Based in New York since 2016, he has built a practice of monumental murals that draws equally on Japanese manga and the energy of American graffiti.

His style is defined by high-voltage compositions crossed by vibrating lines and saturated colors. The artist explores the coexistence of opposites — past and future, stillness and motion, evil and justice — through figures that always seem caught mid-motion. A three-time Art Battle New York winner and 2018 U.S. Champion, he travels regularly to paint at PowWow WorldWide and ComplexCon.

Within a few years he has painted more than forty-eight murals across the United States and was chosen by the World Food Programme and Street Art for Mankind to create 'Zero Hunger' in Houston in 2021 — his largest piece to date at 256 × 53 feet — as part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals campaign.
