Biography

Abid is a Moroccan graffiti artist based in Casablanca and a founding member of the Placebo Studio collective. With over fifteen years of practice, he has established himself as one of the most active figures in the Moroccan mural scene. Rooted in the New York graffiti tradition — lettering, curves, and straight lines — he gradually developed a personal visual language combining figurative portraits, Arabic calligraphy, and geometric motifs inspired by Berber heritage.

His most iconic work remains the "Berberism 2.0" series, created for the 2017 Sbagha Bagha festival in Casablanca. These "glitched" murals represent the passage of time and the interplay between Berber heritage and contemporary aesthetics. Abid has worked in numerous cities beyond Morocco, including Dubai, Barcelona, London, and Paris. In 2023, he participated in the Esplanade Art project at the Institut français de Casablanca.

His murals, spread across the city, have become visual landmarks of Casablanca: at the Nevada Skatepark on Place Rachidi, in the Sidi Bernoussi neighborhood, and on the facades of Boulevard Gandhi. He works primarily with aerosol spray and is equally skilled in large-scale monumental compositions and smaller, more intimate black-and-white pieces.
