Biography
Aches is an Irish muralist whose practice developed in Dublin from the early 2010s before spreading internationally. His visual language — misaligned colour layers reminiscent of off-register four-colour printing, RGB chromatic aberration and fragmented frames — sets him immediately apart in the contemporary mural scene.
Rooted in graffiti lettering, he applies the same broken-colour treatment to figuration: portraits, animals, hands and objects appear "glitched", at once photographic and distorted. The result sits between a homage to screen printing and a digital aesthetic.
He has painted in Dublin, Belfast, London, Cape Town, Christchurch, Waterford and at numerous European festivals. His Dublin murals in Smithfield and the north inner city have become landmarks of the Irish street art trail.
