Biography
Rosco works with spray paint, on walls as much as on canvas, around a single subject: the female portrait. His faces, handled at large scale on brick facades or on more modest supports in the studio, earned him the label urban art inventories give him, painter of brick beauties.
Technical command sits at the heart of the practice: rendering modelling, skin tone and a gaze with a spray can, without brush and with no chance to rework, demands a preparation that brings this closer to classical portraiture than to lettering graffiti. That is what distinguishes this generation of muralists, who came out of graffiti but trained to the standards of figurative painting.
