Biography
Mr Djoul works in ceramic tile mosaic and signs every piece with a small alien, which has become his trademark. The vocabulary is pixel art cemented to walls, inherited from arcade games and from the generation of artists Invader inspired, but he puts it to his own use, with a recurring character running through the whole series.
Output is prolific: more than a thousand pieces had been installed by early 2022, spread across France, the United Kingdom and other European countries. The collaborative inventories that document urban art track his work town by town, and the mosaics are hunted like a treasure trail, at eye level on street corners, doorsteps and fixtures.
