Biography
Born in Brittany in the late 1980s, Miss Veneno lived for years in Nantes before settling in Paris. She started writing graffiti in 2006 in Toulouse and has practised for nearly two decades, in a discipline where she readily points out that women remain a minority.
Her drawing borrows from engraving: cross-hatched line work, very few colours, and a pushed contrast that gives her figures the look of an enlarged print. The subjects are wild or humanised animals, set within hip-hop imagery. She also combines crochet with graffiti, dressing some pieces in textile.
Her path runs through workshop projects as much as through walls: she has run graffiti workshops for young people in a Mexican shanty town and taken part in several festivals in Africa, in Senegal, Benin and Morocco. On returning from Mexico in 2015 she began engraving on linoleum and wood, extending onto another support the line technique that is her signature.
