Biography
Simian Switch is an illustrator and muralist based in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. He started painting in the early 2000s and turned to walls full time in 2016, the year he set up Iconoclash, a project that brings artists to paint in his city in response to its historic setting. He later initiated the 2020 Meeting of Styles in Dordrecht.
His work combines tribal and symbolic imagery with psychedelic touches, built on detailed line work and borrowing from comics, Art Nouveau and stereometry. He uses spray paint, acrylics, installation and digital tools, and has painted for Goldmine Festival in Ghent (2021) and Writers Block in Emmen (2023).
A guest of Art Aero Rap since the 2016 edition, he has left several walls in La Bañeza, including "Reset", a portrait of a woman painted in August 2019, and "Jungle", made with Serge Kb.
