Biography
Alegría del Prado is a duo made up of Octavio Alegría, from Guadalajara in Mexico, and Ester del Prado, from Burgos in Spain, who have worked together since the early 2010s. Their practice spans murals, oil and acrylic painting, screen printing and lithography.
Their images move between figuration and naturalism, dense with symbolic details and a surrealist touch: dreamlike worlds where plants, figures and animals merge, built around the bond between people and nature. In 2016 the University of Burgos showed their work in the exhibition Empatía.
The pair have painted in Mexico, France, Belgium, Russia and many Spanish towns, from the BIAM biennale in Lille in 2019 to Rexenera Fest in Carballo in 2023. That same year they took part in the Art Aero Rap festival in La Bañeza.
