Biography
Soen Bravo comes from Madrid and has been into graffiti since 2000. He still paints it from time to time, and it gave him his command of the spray can. He describes himself as self-taught and works across still life, portraiture, landscape and abstraction.
His paintings break figurative elements apart and layer them with shapes and letters taken from his graffiti, leaving some forms unfinished and adding quick brushstrokes. His subjects often carry social criticism, particularly of the unequal distribution of wealth.
In 2017 his work Teta y sopa was shown at the 52nd Reina Sofía Prize for Painting and Sculpture. The following year he painted a large wall in the Arganzuela district for Madrid City Council's Compartiendo Muros programme, as well as Mi pensión in La Bañeza during the Art Aero Rap festival. He held the solo show Alegal at Writers Madrid in 2019, and in 2021 painted at Street Art City in Lurcy-Lévis, France, during a residency.
