Biography

El Rojo is a Madrid graffiti writer who has been painting with spray cans for more than fifteen years, with training in trompe-l'oeil, airbrush, set design and other mural techniques. His realistic, near-photographic work has taken him across Spain and to Portugal, France, Austria and Ecuador. In Quito he painted the entrance of the Contemporary Art Centre and took part in a breast cancer awareness campaign. He has won urban art competitions in Jaén and Cádiz.

He is a regular at the Art Aero Rap festival in La Bañeza. In 2017 he and Artes painted a sixteen-metre portrait of Ángel Nieto there in two days and two nights. His other walls in the town include Nuestra Señora de los Botes (2018), a patron saint for graffiti writers, La niña del pato on the Plaza Mayor, and Atlas Titán, painted in shades of grey on Calle Los Frailes in September 2024.
