Biography
Sfhir has been painting with spray cans since 1995. At fourteen he was caught painting at his secondary school and expelled, and his art teacher made him repeat the piece on a school wall, this time with the school's permission. The line "wanted for illegal art since 1995" has stayed with him and is also the title of one of his works.
His practice has moved from graffiti towards hyperrealism. He mixes spray paint with airbrush, spray gun, brush and roller, and describes his approach as dissecting reality through an acid filter. His subjects include nature, the human body and the imagery of consumer society, on walls, paper and large vinyl prints.
In La Bañeza he has painted many walls for the Art Aero Rap festival, including El hombre pájaro in 2015, Diosa naturaleza in 2017 and a tribute to the rapper Gata Cattana. In 2023 his cellist painted on a nine-storey building in Fene (A Coruña) was named best mural of the year by Street Art Cities.
