Biography
Demoiselle MM, whose real name is Mariane Mazel, is an artist from the Occitanie region of southern France. She studied at the Beaux-Arts in Marseille, left after two years to keep painting on her own, then travelled the world in a camper van, absorbing traditional colours and costumes.
Settled in Paris, she began taking her "Demoiselles" to the street in 2019, first as paste-ups on rue de la Mare in the 20th arrondissement, then as spray and acrylic murals at urban art festivals in France and across Europe. These elegant female figures blend animals and plants and draw on mythology, fairy tales, comics, tarot and fashion. In 2024 she painted "Queen of Mushrooms", a 30 m² wall at 84 rue Amelot in the 11th arrondissement.
At the Just Paint festival in Saint-Brieuc in July 2026, she painted a ground mural on place Glais-Bizoin: Margot the fairy, a Breton guardian of the forests, perched on a multicoloured mushroom.
