Biography
Sanckøblack is an artist duo based in Montpellier, France, made up of Sancko (Sandra), born in Orange in 1974, and Outofthe.black (Pedro Vitorino), born in Lisbon in 1980. They met in 2015 on an inclusive community project and went on to create together across several disciplines.
Sancko, a self-taught painter, street artist, collagist and performer, deals with current, political and social themes in an intense black and white punctuated with red. Pedro Vitorino, an art director and designer, brings a minimalist, geometric world built around order and chaos, hybridisation and the distortion of reality. On a wall, she paints the main motif while he handles the graphic and geometric elements.
In 2022 the duo painted an 11 by 3.8 metre Camargue horse at the Lunel transport hub. In July 2026 they were invited to the Just Paint festival in Saint-Brieuc, where they painted a mural on rue Mireille Chrisostome combining figurative faces with geometric abstraction.
