Biography
Ronan Pincemin is an illustrator from Rennes who lives and works in Quistinic, in Morbihan, Brittany. Trained in applied arts and architecture, he worked for architecture and heritage firms before setting up as an independent illustrator in 2017. He draws in traditional ink and also works in digital painting.
Drawn to both architecture and science fiction, he has built a series called "Imaginary Cities of Brittany", showing Saint-Malo, Lorient, Port-Louis or Auray through a steampunk, fantasy lens. His view of the Légué harbour, shown outdoors at the Bulles à croquer festival in 2023, led to commissions from the city of Saint-Brieuc.
On 7 June 2024 the city unveiled "Saint-Brieuc, cité suspendue", a 7 by 5 metre illustration mounted on the facade of the Orange building on rue de la Poissonnerie. Drawn in ink on A1 paper and then coloured digitally, it pictures an oil-free city hanging above the sea, crossed by cable cars, hot-air balloons and airships.
