Biography
Gera 1 is a visual artist who lives and works in Athens, Greece. He started writing graffiti in 2009 by designing letters, then turned to characters and abstract forms after 2013. He is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts.
His work draws on the glitch art aesthetic: realistic portraits sit alongside abstract forms in a space full of shifts, distortions and colour contrasts. Several stories overlap through layers of movement, form and texture, where malfunction and deformation become a language of their own.
He has also painted commissioned murals for several hotels in central Athens. In 2023 he painted "Mokhevian" in Varketili for Tbilisi Mural Fest, assisted by Nanina Andguladze.
