Biography

Sasha Korban is a Ukrainian artist born on 12 March 1987 in Kirovske, in the Donetsk region. From 2006 to 2011 he worked as a miner at the Komsomolets Donbasu colliery. Although he first experimented in 2002, he dates the start of his deliberate work on the street to 2009.

His murals are known for expressive faces rendered with an almost narrative realism. In 2018 he painted a portrait of Milana, a young girl who survived a 2015 shelling, on a fifteen-storey building in Mariupol. The mural became a symbol for local residents and was destroyed during the Russian occupation in 2022.

He has since painted regularly in Georgia for Tbilisi Mural Fest: a young woman in traditional dress opposite the Russian embassy in Tbilisi in 2022, then in 2023 "Last Bell" in the Sololaki district and a portrait of a grandmother in Kutaisi.
