CRBZ

CRBZ is a calligraphy-based artist from Lausanne. He took up Latin calligraphy in 2010, first drawn to the classical elegance of thick and thin strokes, then pushed the practice towards abstraction. He calls his technique abstract calligraphy, or calligraffiti: spray paint brings the energy of graffiti, the brush the discipline of calligraphy, and deconstructed letters become movement rather than words.

He has painted at Meeting of Styles events in Madrid, Copenhagen and Pristina, at House of Paint, and at the International Public Art Festival in Cape Town in 2024. At the Vision Art Festival in Crans-Montana he won the 2019 Battle of Styles, and in 2022 he painted a tunnel there with more than 130 schoolchildren. In 2023 he gave a 45-minute live painting performance with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra. His work has been shown in galleries in Geneva, Crans-Montana and Paris.

In Lausanne his paintings can be found at the Vigie metro stop and on street furniture. A regular at the Val d'Arly Street Art Festival in Savoie, he has painted several murals across Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, Crest-Voland and La Giettaz.
