Biography
Fokus is a mural artist from the Drôme, France, and a graduate of the Valence School of Fine Arts. Self-taught in graffiti for around ten years, he roots his work in graffiti heritage and lettering, a language he keeps taking apart by playing with the codes of the discipline while keeping energy and spontaneity at its core.
His research focuses on contrast, through careful work on colour and form, and on a wide range of techniques and formats. He likes to paint in forgotten places, derelict urban sites and natural settings, and carries the same language onto canvas, balancing wall work and studio practice.
Linked to the Valence-based collective Sorry Graffiti, the artist paints murals across the Drôme, Ardèche and Isère. In 2023 he painted a giant alphabet on the Louise Michel school in Valence for the Walls & Love festival.
