Xabier Anunzibai

Born in 1985 and based in Beasain, Gipuzkoa, Xabier Anunzibai works both in the studio and in public space, producing sculptural paintings, large-format murals, installations and short animations. Brief phrases and single words taken from his day-to-day notes recur throughout his work, alongside an interest in typography and vernacular graphic codes. He is represented by GKo Gallery and has shown work in France, Germany, Italy and Chile. With Sebas Velasco he painted "Hemen sartzen dena bere etxean da" (Basque for "whoever comes in here is at home") in Bayonne for the 2017 Points de Vue festival, a project meant as a bridge across the Bidasoa. In 2026 he was painting a mural at the entrance to Beasain featuring the mythological figure Muruko Mari.
