Spear

Corentin Binard, who paints as Spear, was born in Brussels in 1988 and graduated in architecture from La Cambre in 2011. A trip to Latin America that year started a travelling practice that has taken his murals to more than twenty countries across Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe. His style moves between controlled, old-master realism and looser, deconstructed passages, and his subjects deal with social struggle and people in hardship. He founded the charity project Painted For Them in 2012, and his series Invisibles tells the stories of homeless people he met in the street. For the Points de Vue festival in Bayonne he painted "Leave no one behind" at 1 avenue de Cam de Prats.
