Refreshink

Giovanni Magnoli, known as Refreshink, was born in Arona near Novara in 1971 and got into graffiti in the early 1990s, painting with his crew. Over time he left classic letters and characters behind for layered compositions in spray paint and mixed media, first with daisies, then from 2009 with roosters and other brightly coloured animals set among geometric shapes and words. His Iconosaik project, launched in 2022, imitates ancient mosaic entirely in paint, breaking images into hand-painted tesserae to link Roman craft with graffiti culture. In 2025 he painted "Scriptum" on La Nautique's Canot Club building by the Adour in Bayonne for the Points de Vue festival, marking the club's 150th anniversary. The design drew on a lost mosaic by Giandomenico Facchina.
