Biography
Lyon illustrator and muralist Adeline, a graduate of the city's École Émile Cohl, first signed her work Méthyl'N and then Méthylaine, a nod to methylene blue. She later renamed herself Méthyl'Mnê after Mnemosyne, mother of the Muses in Greek mythology. She has been a freelance illustrator since 2009, working in publishing, press drawing and posters before moving onto walls. Her tools are acrylic, spray paint with hand-cut stencils, markers and pencils, and her style draws on steampunk and on Hugo Pratt's retro-futurism, mixed with myths from many cultures. In Lyon she painted "Tisseurs de solidarité", a 125 m² wall in the Croix-Rousse district, with the Mur 69 association. For Points de Vue in October 2019 she held a residency at the Oreka circus school in Bayonne, where she painted acrobats balancing between sky and earth at 30 rue Albert-Thomas to illustrate the word "balance".
