Biography
Murmure is a French duo made up of Paul Ressencourt (born 1981) and Simon Roché (born 1983), who met at the École supérieure d'arts et médias in Caen and began working in the street together in 2010. Under the name Murmure Street they cover walls with paste-ups, murals and temporary shows, taking on subjects such as childhood, homelessness, consumer society, technology and the environment. Charcoal drawing and screen printing are their core techniques, and since 2021 they have also painted on canvas and cast bronze sculptures. For the Points de Vue festival in Bayonne in 2020 they painted "Dung Beetle", part of their "Garb-age" series: a dung beetle rolling a rubbish bag, painted in acrylic with a brush on a Basque pelota wall. The piece looks at plastic waste and at wealthy countries shipping it off to countries that cannot deal with it.
