Biography
Antoine Martinet, known as Mioshe, is a painter and illustrator born in 1984 who grew up in Brittany and lives in Rennes. He painted the streets of Nantes with the B2M collective before spending three years at the Rennes fine arts school. He cites the muralist Blu, Renaissance engravers such as Dürer and Hieronymus Bosch, and ancient Greek pottery as influences. On walls and on canvas he builds a world of hybrid, chimeric creatures, animals and plants, which he calls an allegorical bestiary and herbarium about people, cities and nature. His projects include murals for the Rennes festivals Urbaines (2011) and Maintenant (2014), the Anglet Biennale and the Audubon Mural Project, as well as a 2019 tour of six Russian cities. For Points de Vue 2025 he painted a mural in Hasparren linking the town's Gallo-Roman inscribed stone with Basque pelota, and brought a piece from the Bonnat-Helleu museum collections onto a Bayonne wall.
