Biography
Bayonne-based mosaicist Elsa Langlais works under the name Elzarra. Before turning to art she managed international fine-art shipping projects and set up an aerial dance school in the Basque Country, and she says that background in movement and staging shapes how she approaches public space. She started working in the streets in 2021, filling potholes and cracked pavements at night with hand-cut fragments of salvaged tiles, chipped crockery and reused mirrors, a practice she calls "Guérilla Repair". For the 2024 Points de Vue festival she covered the stairway on rue de la Cabotte in the Saint-Esprit district with a black-and-white piece, "Le voyage intérieur", that runs from shadow to light and includes a scallop shell nodding to the Camino de Santiago pilgrims. Her work can also be found in Anglet and Cambo-les-Bains.
