Biography
The French duo Ella & Pitr (born 1984 and 1981) live and work in Saint-Étienne. Coming from performance and graffiti, they began in 2007 by pasting drawings on the city's walls and on 4 x 3 m billboards, added anamorphosis to their work in 2012, and from 2013 started painting 'Colosses', huge sleeping figures laid flat across rooftops and the ground. Examples include Lilith & Olaf for Norway's Nuart festival (2015, 21,000 m²) and a 25,000 m² piece on the roof of the Paris Expo exhibition centre in 2019. In Bayonne they painted Mes lunettes ! on petite rue de l'Esté for Points de Vue in 2018, followed in 2019 by a ground mural of roughly 1,000 m² on the carreau des Halles, best seen from above.
