Biography

Born in 1990, Aurelie Andres studied design and fashion in Lille, where she learned embroidery, weaving, textile printing and dyeing, then spent five years as a textile designer in Paris for labels such as Swildens and Leon & Harper, followed by work in New York and time with craftspeople in India. She set up her own studio in 2015. A 2018 trip to Morocco led to her first mural, painted with Chefchaouen pigments on a school in the desert, and large-scale painting has been central to her work since. Her murals use naive lines and strong colour contrasts, and she often paints them together with local residents. Based in the Basque Country since 2020, with residencies in Colombia, the Amazon, Burkina Faso and India, she painted the André Grimard underpass in Bayonne for Points de Vue in 2021.
