Alberto Ruce

Born in Sicily in 1988, Alberto Ruce taught himself graffiti in his early teens before moving to Paris in 2009, where he took drawing, painting and perspective classes at the Atelier des Beaux-Arts from 2011 to 2014. He is now based in Marseille and works both in the studio and in public space. His portraits are veiled through transparency, layering and tonal shifts, and he treats each surface (old plaster, stone, cardboard, canvas) as part of the composition. For the 2024 Points de Vue festival in Bayonne he painted Kaskarotak, a tribute to the Kaskarot, a figure of Basque carnival once reserved for men that women have recently taken up.
