Biography

Born in Belgium in 1988 and raised on a farm in the Belgian Ardennes by a family of musicians, Adele Renault travelled alone from the age of 14, with stays in Venezuela and Brighton, before graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels in 2010. She now splits her time between Los Angeles and the Belgian countryside. Working in oil on canvas and spray paint on walls, she paints hyperrealistic, close-up studies of overlooked subjects: pigeon feathers in her Gutter Paradise series (started 2016), nursing home residents, and the plant life of Los Angeles. Her murals include a wall in New Delhi's Lodi Art District (2019). In 2022 the Points de Vue festival commissioned a mural from her near Bayonne train station.
