Biography
Margot, who paints under the name Margay, is a self-taught muralist born in Grasse, France, in 1990. She moved to Mexico in 2015 to work as a naturalist guide, and started painting in the streets of Tulum as a response to the growing pressure on the local environment; her artist name comes from the margay, a small wild cat of Central and South America. Working with rollers and brushes, she builds narrative murals that weave together people, wildlife, plants and cultural symbols, often developed alongside residents and local naturalists. Her walls can be found across Mexico (Tulum, Holbox, Sisal, Cancún), Central America, Italy, Spain, the UK, Morocco and France. In July 2026 she took part in Plein Champ, the urban art festival held in the Parc du Gué-de-Maulny in Le Mans.
