Biography
Amara Por Dios (the artist name of Amara Muñoz, born April 16, 1988, in Stockholm) is a prominent Swedish street artist, muralist, and illustrator. She is globally recognized for her vibrant, organic style featuring bold colors, intricate patterns, and expressive, mystical faces. Her roots are firmly planted in graffiti culture, and she primarily uses spray paint to bring large-scale public walls to life.
Inspired by ancient civilizations, mythologies, and religious artifacts, her artwork often depicts spiritual beings, guardians, and goddesses designed to watch over and protect their surroundings.
Raised in Farsta, Stockholm, Amara studied art and design at the Södra Latin school. Her international breakthrough came in 2011 after she won a high-profile design competition for the music producer Flying Lotus.
In 2012, she moved to London to pursue street art more freely. She quickly established herself in the UK art scene, and by 2014, The Guardian named her one of the top female street artists in the UK. After five successful years in London, she returned to Sweden and is currently based in Stockholm.
