Biography

Yash, born Linus Lundin, is a Swedish muralist from Gnesta, a small town in Södermanland. Self-taught, he has been painting walls since the mid-2000s and says it took him a long time to find the look he is now known for: luminous portraits, often of children, paired with an animal, usually a bird, in compositions built on simple shapes. His murals deal with security, searching and anxiety, though he never spells out what a piece means. In 2015 he initiated the permanent wall on Luthens gränd in Södermalm, just as Stockholm was dropping its zero-tolerance policy on graffiti. He has since painted for the Artscape festival in Gothenburg ("Where trees don't grow", 2016), Filipstad and Strömstad, and for the town of Lidköping ("Frame of Mind", 2021).
