Biography

Tata BZH pastes small winged figures on the walls of Rennes, in Brittany. Raised in Fougères, the artist discovered graffiti while studying in Paris, set the practice aside for several years, then came back to it through the local association Le Mur de Rennes and artists such as Naga, Thiago and Etiou. The name goes back to a party where a little girl tugged at a trouser leg and said "tata", a nickname that has stuck for twenty-five years. The figure never changes: a bright red heart with white wings, arms and legs drawn as thin black stems, paired with messages like "Only Love!" or "Viens, on s'aime!". The pieces are painted on slate or wood panels and glued up during walks through the old centre of Rennes, on rue Saint-Guillaume or rue Vasselot.
