Biography
Philippe Chevrinais is a visual artist from the Nantes region of France, known for practicing reverse graffiti, also called “subtractive drawing.” This technique involves using a pressure washer to clean parts of a dirty wall, revealing an image instead of adding paint.
His work engages with public spaces and often involves local residents. He created a piece in Oloron-Sainte-Marie in 2019 as part of the Urban’Ival urban-culture festival. He also wrote an article about reverse graffiti, published in the journal Sens-Dessous in 2014.
